Short Newsletter with some Bali thought

As you probably heard in the news, the Bali conference reached an agreement on Friday, despite the obstruction of our Canadian government delegation to block the process. Many Canadian environmentalists felt ashamed of our delegation. To feel ashamed, you need to have some expectation. Since I didn’t have any from the Harper government, it was more a feeling of outrage that I was experiencing: in the name of Canadians, and for the sake of our short term economy, the Baird delegation was trying to stop to world to come to an meaningful agreement with mid-term specific target to slow down climate change. I could not imagine that our leaders were so short sighted, so blind with their eyes, maybe full of tar sand.

Then came Avaaz with an online petition that attracted more than 110 000 Canadians people in 4 days. The petition was asking Harper to stop blocking the process. It seems that the message was heard and the Harper delegation stop doing his nuisance... They even stop going to some meetings. Strangely after the conference, Baird said that he was sorry that no agreement with specific targets was reached. Nice example of hypocrisy! Baird and Harper wanted targets for 2050… very courageous!
